Better Reading, Less Fights Around Homework!

“Six months ago, I was feeling frustrated as a mom, not knowing how to help my 9 year old feel more successful in school. I had tried for years to help improve his confidence in reading, but nothing seemed to work. I had noticed Tanner mixing up letters in the opposite order quite often. After meeting with Dr. Gardner, he confirmed what I was seeing was true, I also learned his eyes were not working together. This was a big reason why he was struggling in reading.    We started on a long journey of eye therapy as well as a reading program to re-learn the basics. As Tanner worked on his eyes, they seemed to get stronger. This took time to notice, but he was becoming more confident in his reading. He stopped losing his place.    The biggest thing I began to notice was Tanner stopped fighting me when I asked him to read something. He would pick up papers and just read something. He would pick up papers and just read what was on the paper - because he could! Before that, it was too much effort to sit and sound things out. He was actually picking up his book and taking the time to read more than I asked him to. As we ended the program, practicing eye therapy wasn’t hard anymore. It was easy and fast! We are truly grateful for Dr. G and his team!”

Vision Therapy Helped Me Improve My Reading

“Reading was really hard for me. The words would wiggle and jiggle. When I was in class, I felt left out. When I first started vision therapy my eyes didn’t track well and I hated reading. I loved the fun games my vision therapist would show me… I liked going home and doing my therapy games with my mom. I got better at reading and I thought “This really works!” The tasks helped me get stronger eyes and now I am a good reader. I am not scared to read in class. I hope everyone loves vision therapy too!”

Improved Batting Average, Better Reading

“After deciding to put one son in eye therapy and learning what it could help with, I quickly tested my other son. I had them go through the program together. Dax was 3 years older, but had always been slower in reading, regardless of the extra help over the years. For years we had tried throwing balls to him and he was scared to catch a football, basketball - really any kind of ball. He loved baseball but he would jump out of the box and never swing, even though we knew he was capable of hitting. We were so frustrated at why he was doing this. In the beginning, eye therapy was hard for Dax and his eyes would get tired quickly. It didn’t seem to come naturally but he kept trying. Fast forward to the end of eye therapy and Dax is all smiles. My son has confidence when he reads. He is catching the balls in school while playing with friends and not jumping out of the batter’s box this year playing baseball - he actually swings and has had some great hits! His eyes had been working independently from each other, making it hard to play sports. His eyes were losing track of the ball and that is why he struggled to catch or hit.    His teacher has seen a great improvement in his learning this year. He has gone as far as skipping grade levels to be caught up in school. Dr. G and his team were very encouraging and still continue to give us help as he continues to grow. If you take the time to be consistent with the weekly homework, you will see drastic improvements at home and in school. I’m grateful I have a much more confident child as he goes into Jr. High!” *Follow the link to read more stories about reading improvements seen with vision therapy.

Improved Vision, No More Wandering Eye

“When I first started vision therapy, I thought this was pointless, and then after the 4th week, I started to see some change, and that’s when I realized this actually helps, and they gave me more exercises to work on that week. And my mom had said to me she noticed my eye wasn’t drifting as much. And I started to see subtle differences. I noticed that my eyes were actually working together, and everything was so much more defined. Before vision therapy there used to be this tint on my right eye. I couldn’t see much out of it and one day, I noticed it had gone away. Vision therapy has helped my eyes so much. I thank my mom for the opportunity to do and participate in vision therapy.”   *Read more stories of how Vision Therapy has improved their Eye Turns (Strabismus).

Improved Eye Tracking and Handwriting

“Vision Therapy helped me in a lot of ways. I had a hard time tracking words and switching from using my right and left eyes. I worked hard to improve my handwriting. I have a good attitude and know I can do hard things now.” *Read more stories of children who have improved their Lazy Eye (Amblyopia) through Vision Therapy.

I Have a New Child, Who Actually Enjoys Reading Now!

“Before Vision Therapy I hated reading, hated it! I saw it as a chore and it hurt my eyes. Then I went to Vision Therapy and it was pretty cool. My therapist, and she’s the best, love her. Anyways, after therapy was over I loved reading. I read the whole “Hunger Games” in a month. Before I could read one book in a month. So that was pretty great! Now I love reading and I’m beginning to become a bookworm.” -Julia   “This program has been life-changing for my 8th grade daughter. She really struggled with school work: reading and math especially. It got to the point that I knew something was wrong and that she needed professional help, but I didn’t even know where to start. So I started with the pediatrician who referred me to a therapist (who wanted to medicate her for anxiety). Fortunately, one of my friends recommended vision therapy. From the moment I started to fill out the paperwork, I knew I was in the right place. The questions were all relevant to her situation. After 8 months of therapy, she is reading books willingly on her own. Her confidence has skyrocketed. It’s like I have a new kid. This place has been a blessing. Such an easy fix for a seemingly insurmountable problem.”  - Kelly, Julia’s mom (5-Star Google Review)

I Don’t Need My Reading Glasses Anymore!

“Before coming to ACHIEVE, when I read books, my eyes felt strained. I got headaches when I read for even five minutes. I got special glasses that helped my eyes work together. A few months later, I had the choice to have the special glasses pretty much forever or try vision therapy. I chose vision therapy. I felt that it was the right decision because Dr. Pope and my vision therapist, LaSchelle, were both so nice and really patient with me. ACHIEVE Vision Therapy has helped my eyes so much that I don’t think I’ll ever need to use the special glasses again! I love ACHIEVE!”

No More Double Vision and Improved Reading

“My journey has been great during therapy. I remember that before I got my glasses it was so hard to read. I was seeing double a lot and it was not just my glasses that helped, vision therapy helped too.    I loved coming to therapy and I learned that if I try something I will get it. Even if it seems hard. I will miss coming to therapy but I know that I improved from before therapy. Your friend, Jackson.”

Improved Reading Comprehension, No More Headaches!

“I am thankful for my vision therapist, Ms. LaSchelle, for working with me every week. Vision Therapy has helped me in so many ways. Since Vision Therapy, I don’t lose my place as much anymore. Words don’t float around the page like they did before. I am able to sound out words easier. My ability to read has gotten better. So has my comprehension. My eyes are finally working together better!! I am able to read for longer periods of time. And the best and most important thing for me is that I don’t get headaches like I did before. I am so glad I have had Vision Therapy!!”
